Are wired or wireless accessories better for gaming?

Whether it’s controllers, keyboards, mice, or headsets, you’ll often find companies offering both wired and wireless versions of the same product. And in almost all cases, the wireless version is more expensive.

Despite this, when it comes to high-level gaming, wired accessories are almost always better. Wired accessories send input signals consistently faster than wireless ones, which is great for fast-paced fighting or shooting games. And using wired accessories also means you’re not at risk of losing your signal in the middle of a match, or running out of battery. Wired headphones can also offer better sound quality than wireless ones.

Wireless products are definitely convenient. But wired accessories are far more reliable. Check out our guides to the best gaming mouse, best PC controller for gaming, and best gaming headsets for more wired and wireless model recommendations.

What are the benefits of a curved monitor?

Curved monitor advocates claim that the curves let you see more of the screen at once without having to move your eyes. This could potentially improve your reflexes and let you keep track of more things on the screen at once. There are also claims that it combats eye strain, although there isn’t much scientific evidence to back that up.

What we can say is that curved monitors take up less horizontal desk space without sacrificing screen size. They can also help reduce off-screen distractions that you’d otherwise see in your peripheral vision.

What’s the difference between Nvidia and AMD graphics cards?

Nvidia and AMD are the titans of the GPU world. Their flagship products are the Nvidia GeForce RTX series and AMD Radeon series — you’ll find at least one of these graphics cards in pretty much any gaming PC on the market.

In general, Nvidia GPUs are more powerful, and can better support advanced features like raytracing. But AMD GPUs are workhorses in their own right, and also tend to be cheaper.

All of the best gaming laptops in our buying guide use Nvidia GPUs. But don’t be afraid to give AMD Radeon cards a look too, especially if you don’t care about features like raytracing.
