Elon Musk Is Straight up Fuming on Twitter About Zuckerberg’s Threads

  • Elon Musk took to Twitter to air his grievances on Instagram after Meta launched its new app, Threads.
  • Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg has been outspoken in his desire to dethrone Twitter with Threads.
  • Musk said he preferred being attacked on Twitter than having to pretend to be happy on Instagram.

Elon Musk isn’t taking the launch of Meta’s Twitter rival very well — he took to Twitter on Wednesday to dunk on the Meta-owned Instagram while users poured into Mark Zuckerberg’s brand-new platform, Threads.

“It is infinitely preferable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter, than indulge in the false happiness of hide-the-pain Instagram,” Musk tweeted on Wednesday.

Musk was replying to a tweet from a Twitter user named Internal Tech Emails, who posted a screenshot of Musk’s email about Instagram dated August 21, 2018.

“I just deleted my Instagram. Weak sauce,” the email read.

Musk did delete his Instagram account back in 2018, and was not a fan of the platform.

Meta launched its new text-based app, Threads, on Wednesday. Users flocked to Threads: More than five million people signed up to join the platform in the first four hours of its launch, per Zuckerberg.

And Zuckerberg has been outspoken about his desire to do better than the Musk-owned Twitter. He also spent the first hours of Threads’ existence posting sassy zingers about Musk

“It’ll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it. Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully we will,” said Zuckerberg when a Threads user asked if the platform could beat Twitter.

For his part, Musk previously expressed his scorn at Meta’s attempt to kickstart a Twitter rival. This somehow spiraled into a bizarre sequence of events, where he challenged Zuckerberg to a cage match to settle their beef in the ring. Zuckerberg has accepted Musk’s challenge, though it is unclear when or where such a fight would take place.

Representatives for Musk at Twitter responded to a request for comment with an automated response that didn’t address the questions asked.
