This Puppy Starter Kit is intended especially for small breeds of dog. Such breeds that will not be above the size of 11 kg at around 6 months of age. As a general guide, any dog breed around the size of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a Westie, a Shih Tzu or a Jack Russell Terrier would be suited to this starter pack to help with teething.

If your puppy is of a larger breed like a Springer Spaniel, a Beagle, a Labrador Retriever or a German Shepherd Dog then this product is not right for him. Nylabone has a large selection of puppy teething toys for all shapes and sizes of breed and chewing styles. They are all available on Amazon.

The Starter Chew Toy Bone in this pack: When you first get your new puppy, he will have his first set of teeth. The starter bone in this pack is made of flexible thermoplastic rubber made for your puppy to chew when he only has these first baby teeth. At this stage he is teething, and he will want to chew on something safe to help ease the pain and encourage his adult teeth to come through. Adult teeth will begin to come through at the age of around 12 to 16 weeks. It is very important that you check for these new adult teeth, as at the first sign of them coming through, this starter chew will no longer be suitable for him. His new adult teeth could lead to him biting chunks off the soft bone. This is when he is ready to move on to the second graduate bone in the pack; the white one!

The Graduate White Hard Toy Bone in this pack: This harder bone is for your puppy to chew once the adult teeth are coming through. He can still chew this into adulthood, but he may want to move on to a different Nylabone product by then! This graduate bone is not suitable for your very young puppy with only baby teeth, so it is important to wait until these adult teeth start to come through.

The Healthy Edible Treat in this pack: This delicious bacon flavour edible treat is for when your dog 6 months or older and so has a full set of teeth. It is a good idea to keep the pack to remind yourself of the teething stages and when to move on to the graduate and edible chews.

It is important to select the proper size and type of chew for your puppy’s age, weight and chewing strength. Non-edible chews should be large enough to encourage chewing from the side rather than top and bottom. If you have more than one dog in your household, select chews for the largest, strongest chewer.

Your puppy or adult dog should be supervised at all times with any chew, treat or toy.
