We have some good news: Le Creuset is selling its cult-favorite meringue colorway at a discount! The bad news, however, is that it’s discounting the colorway because it is discontinuing it altogether.
“Last chance for Meringue,” Le Creuset said in the caption of an Instagram post about the change, along with a white heart. “We’re bidding farewell to this soft, serene neutral. Visit the link in our bio to shop your favorite pieces (on sale!) before they’re gone for good.”
The post was met with a resounding “nooooo” from commenters.
“NO PLZ DONT GET RID OF THIS SHADE PLEASE KEEP IT FOR 5 MORE YEARS I WAS GONNA HAVE THIS SHADE AS MY BASE SHADE FOR MY ENTIRE SET WHEN I GOT A HOUSE !!!!!! plz le creuset,” one person commented, encapsulating just about every one of the rest of the comments.
“Please nooooo! It’s a timeless classic and was planning this color that fits with my new kitchen reno!” another person wrote.
The overall reaction is that the meringue color is a neutral, staple color that goes with everything—and that’s true. Thankfully, there is a factory-to-table sale right now, so you can grab some of the pieces you want most.
And, of course, there are plenty of neutral alternatives available, too.
Signature Round Dutch Oven in Meringue
Le Creuset
If you know one thing about Le Creuset, chances are you know about the iconic Le Creuset Dutch oven. It’s crafted from cast iron and has been a fan favorite since 1925—that’s nearly a century of cooking.
What Dutch ovens do best is heat retention, so it’s ideal for slow cooking, braising, and roasting, but you can also bake and fry in it.
Signature Braiser in Meringue
Le Creuset
Le Creuset’s enameled cast iron Braiser is perfect for braising meats and vegetables without crowding it before you add in the liquid and lock in the flavor with the lid.
Like many of Le Creuset’s items, it’s pretty versatile: use it to shallow fry, steam, stew, or serve. Plus, it’s easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
Signature Skillet in Meringue
Le Creuset
The enameled cast iron Signature Skillet is exactly what you think it is—one of the most versatile kitchen essentials Le Creuset has to offer. It’s great for searing, sauteing, stir-frying, and more.
What makes this skillet particularly beloved is that it has black satin enamel, meaning you don’t have to maintain and season it like a typical cast iron.
Heritage Rectangular Casserole in Meringue
Le Creuset
Everyone needs a good casserole dish, and Le Creuset serves to please. This dish is perfect for—you guessed it—casseroles, but it’s also great for desserts, meat dishes, fish, and more. The stoneware lid locks in moisture and heat, and also serves as a top for potlucks, picnics, and leftovers.
Signature Enameled Cast Iron 9-Piece Cookware Set in White
Le Creuset
Just because Meringue is leaving Le Creuset doesn’t mean you can’t get a full set in a neutral you love. Similar to the discontinued color, this enabled cast iron nine-piece cookware set in white includes the signature round Dutch oven, the oval Dutch oven, a braiser, a saucepan, and a skillet.
Signature Cassadou in Brioche
Le Creuset
Brioche is a nearly perfect neutral to add to your kitchen if you want to replace the now-discontinued Meringue. This signature Cassadou dish can become a deep saute pan or a small Dutch oven, depending on what you want to cook.
If you can’t snag any of these last-minute meringue deals, fear not—there are plenty of other colors on sale too. Happy shopping!
